There are many interesting things discovered by Fritz. One of the most surprising is that so few people in his survey are volunteering. Of course he has not said how representative his sample is but none the less his findings confirm my own observations. Few of my friends are volunteering. Of those who are volunteering all (n=2) live in Eastern Canada. Many of my friends have worked all their life and seem less inclined to work for no pay. “Been there done that” is an expression I hear a lot. Less than 5% of his sample rated volunteer activities as their favourite thing to do. I can understand that after trying out 5 volunteer gigs.
